The seventh JNC meeting included
-
Overview of the financial statement for the year 2003.
-
Overview of what has been decided by the administrative and financial
JNC committee in regards the contribution of various health sectors
including public sectors , Zaytooneh university, Applied university and
nurses and midwife association.

JNC position statement on nursing education ( there was a big debate
about it.
-
Discussion
of the agreement between JNC and Ministry of Planning to establish a
research, training and consultancy center and the action plan of the
center.
-
The name of the two permanent committees of the council suggested last
meeting.
-
Discussion of the open day for JNC at KAUH on the 15th Jan 2004.
-
Sending
letters to GHQ and Amman
Municipality for the possibility of donating a land for the JNC
to start plans
to build a permanent place for the JNC

Other
issues(
a letter send to Amman Municipality and a delegation visited the
secretary general, who promised to allocate land to the JNC)
B-
The eighth meeting was on Monday 5th April. 2004.the agenda included
-
Overview of legislation consultant report "Miss Fadwa Affara"
-
Approving the bringing of the two consultants to the preceptorship
program( approved.
-
Approval of the proposed nursing practice act (this was postponed)
-
Approval of standards of clinical training (This was postponed)
-
Forming the two standing committee.
-
Sending a letter for the ministry of Higher Education about a proposal
to stop opening new associate nursing schools, opening of new branches
of BSN plus specialty, deciding on the number of students that is
suitable to faculty number and laboratories, and deciding on the number
of females and males in nursing( this was declined by the minister of
health)

Other issues (Approving position statement of JNC (this was not
approved)
C-
The Nineth meeting was on Wednesday 16th June. 2004 included
-
Postponing
the approval of both practice act and clinical ladder.
-
Overview of the preceptor/mentorship program organized by the two
consultants were 25 nurses from various health sectors trained on TOT of
nursing learners.
-
An overview of the midwifery workshop
-
The decision to appoint an external auditor ( Saba Deloite were
selected)

brief about the financial status of the council.
D-
The tenth meeting was held on
Wednesday 25th Aug.2004
-
Nursing
Practice Act was approved and sent to legislation bureau
-
Clinical
Ladder By Law was approved and sent to legislation bureau
-
Approval
of criteria for granting financial incentives for committees was
postponed .approval for the council of ministers was obtained)
-
Appointing
External Auditor( Saba was appointed
-
Proposal
for establishing continuing education and quality improvement committee
( the two committees were formed)
-
Report
on the visit to NCSBN and discussing the NCLEX examination and the
possibility of piloting the exam in Jordan (a committee was formed to
propose a pilot examination headed by Dr. Linda Haddad).
- Proposal
for establishing a trust fund for giving scholarship for students who
wish to study nursing in Jordan Universities ( this is under process)
- Proposing
a National Conference for next year ( the steering committee was formed
and two meeting were held to decide on the theme, date and time and logo
of the conference).
- Overview
of the activities of the council for the past two months ( training 15
nurses as mentors at the Jordan University Hospitals, attending an open
discussion about continuing education at Al Hussein Cancer Center
and continuous quality improvement program at King Abdullah University
Hospital and awarding the three first graduate of nursing program at the
Jordanian Universities).
- Other
issues: -Visit to hospitals by JNC(this was not encouraged due to the
fact that the by laws and standards are not ready)
- Magnet
Award ( the licensure committee is looking at ways to establish this
Award).
- International
Recognition & Award of a Jordanian nurse in cancer care.
- The
request of WHO Iraq Office to run two workshops of
mentorship/preceptorship for Iraqi nurses was approved.
E-
The eleventh board meeting took place on Thursday
14th Oct..2004
It
included
- Approval
of criteria for granting financial incentives for committees( approval
sent and approved by the council of ministers on Jan 11th 2005).
- Report
of the committee on NCLEX examination.
- Printing
a calendar for the year 2005 having JNC logo( was done)
- Dr. Muntaha Ghariabeh gave an over view of the results of nursing
research
priorities
- SG gave an overview of the JNC activities during the past two months.
- The dean of JUST raised the problem of having mainly male students at
the parallel program, which will cause a problem for future ratio of
male to female.
- SG congratulated Dr. Muntaha Ghariebeh for being appointed a member of
the accreditation
council at the ministry of higher education.
F-
The twelfth meeting took place on Tuesday
28th Dec. 2004 included
- Approval
of the JNC budget for the year 2005.
- Overview
of the result of meeting of the administrative and financial committee.
- Decision
regarding the unpaid contribution for the Year 2003., 2004 (a kind
letter to be sent to concerned parties on the issue of due
contribution).
- Deciding
on the amount of contribution for the year 2005 to be the same as 2004
and coordinating with the private sectors on the amounts to be paid.
- Deciding
on sending a written request to the priminister to allocate a land for
the JNC from the government lands( the decision was made to approach the
Army on this issue).
- Approving
to transfer 60% of surplus for the year (2003, 2004) to special reserve
for the purpose of building a permanent place and training center for
the JNC ( This was approved).
- Discussing
the issue raised by HE Mr. Khalaf Masadeh by requesting donation from
the
Arab University for Higher Studies ( being a member of the board
of trusties), and other institution such as the Royal Scientific Society
and some of the Big banks such as the Arab Bank etc.( the minister of
health suggested a campaign for donation be organized.
- Workshops that was organized by the Council on research
- Overview
of the legal councilor's and the nursing and midwife
association response on the nursing code of ethics ( a joint
meeting between the secretary general and the secretary and the chairman
and board of association took place at the JNC offices
on the 9th of Jan. 2005 and the issue was discussed and both
parties agreed to brief each other on issues of common interest.
