Task Force and Committees (2006)

A. Adhoc Committees:

(1) The competency committee

 

a. The competency committee for the new graduated nurses continued acting until the first of Jun 2006.
This committee has put the basic articles, questions, guideline, and the basic form of the exam.

b. The competency committee which started its duties after Jun 2006 and it shall proceed its duty for two years. The terms of reference include:

-Collecting the questions from the different specialty, which include; adults, pediatric, gynecology and obstetrics, psychiatric and community health.

-Ensure the quality of the questions and check the scientific contents and phrases and ensure the balance of sub-topics for the same specialty.

-Ensure Coding, classification and updating of questions.

-Prepare the right questions for each specialty.

-Supervise the exam and write reports of the way running it using statistical data.

-Writing regular report of its achievements using statistical data.

-Writing the final report at the end of the year.

-Prepare the final report at the end of the committee duties.

c. Professional experts committee for the competency exam. Terms of reference include:

- Approve the basics Competencies of the staff nurse.

- Suggest new skills to equip the new graduated nurse with the local and international job requirements.

- Prepare the needed information about the new graduated nurses, their work address and qualifications.

- Prepare programs of orientation about the hiring institution to help the new graduated nurses joining their new job smoothly and comfortably.

- Prepare a questionnaire form to measure the new graduate competency.

 

 

Committee recommendations:

1. Adopt the below curriculums at Jordan Universities:

·        Mother and chilled health

·        Safety environment and infection control

·        Management and leadership responsibility

2. Making teaching culture and environment health courses as mandatory courses instead of being alternatives.

3. Expand teaching of the quality improvement course to encompass all the Jordan Universities to prepare for the competency professional exam.

4. Informing the students of the legal and ethical issues concerning the Jordanian Nursing Council and Jordan Nurses and Midwives Association which consist of:

·        Job Description

·        Code of Ethics

·        Professional Standards

·        Policy and Procedures

·        Nursing Classification

 

(2) The strategy committee

The committee has accomplished the nursing strategy of Jordan for the years (2006-2010) consist of eight core dimensions, whish are:

- Professions self regulation

- Education and continuing education

- Nursing practice and workplace conditions

- Nursing human resources

- Leadership and decision making

- Professionalism

- Research and development

- Coalition and collaboration

 

(3) The first international nursing conference committee:


This committee main duty is to nominate the conference theme, place, logo and goals. Confirm the suggested workshops, chairperson and co-chairpersons, sub-committees, and participation fees. It has published the first and the second advertisement for the conference.

 

a. Resources and social activity committee

 

b. Media committee:

- Advertise for launching the conference through electronic network.

- Advertise through the different multimedia.

- Circulate advertisement to the various health sectors and institutions.

- Prepare regular reports for the organizing committee.

- Ensure a comprehensive advertisement for the whole conference activities.

- Prepare the booklet of the conference.

 

c. Scientific committee:

- Prepare and organize the conference, and make the needed correspondence for the conference invitations.

- Appoint a chairperson and co-chairperson for each session.

- Organize the session's program and activities.

- Receives the proposal and determine if it's acceptable or rejected and inform the relevant persons.

- Design questionnaire form to evaluate the conference activity

B. Permanent Committees:

(1) Planning Committee: Didn’t hold any meeting during the year 2006.

(2) Professional Committee: Didn’t hold any meeting during the year 2006.

(3) Media Committee: was formed in Jun 2006 and didn’t hold any meeting during the year.

(4) Practice Committee:

Study the job description for each nurse and midwife in order to release it at the beginning of 2007, and plan for criteria to apply and followup of application of standards.

      (5) Licensure Committee: Didn’t hold any meeting during the year 2006
