1. Archon Award, 2007: HRH
Princess Muna Al Hussein the president of the JNC was awarded by The
Honor Society of Nursing "Sigma Theta Tau International" and given the
Scientific International Nursing Award "Archon" on 4 Nov. 2007. HRH was
awarded for her exceptional achievements in enhancing nursing and
health care services at all levels, supporting the scientific researches
that aims to develop health policies to provide a high quality health
care services for; individual, family and the society, and her
continuing efforts to ensure the human safety to achieve the Millennium
Development Goals (MDGs), as well as her prominent role regionally and
internally.

3. Launch
The
National Nursing Campaign " Nursing the Medal of Honor" on 25 May
2007 at the Jordanian Nursing Day:
In response to the directions of Her Royal Highness Princess Muna
Al-Hussein to promote nursing and its services, the Jordanian Nursing
Council and its partners; (Princess Muna Scholarship Found for Nursing,
Ministry of Health, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Higher Education
and Scientific Research, Public and Private Universities, Royal Medical
Services, King Abdullah the Second Development Office for Vocational
Guidance, and Private Hospitals Association) launched a national nursing
campaign on 25 May 2007 at the Jordanian Nursing Day. The campaign
slogan " Nursing the Medal of Honor " aims at encouraging young women to
join nursing, and to balance the workforce to meet the health service
demands for female nurses. The campaign activities will resume for one
year.
Within
the campaign lunching ceremony a round table on shortage of nursing and
midwifery was held in collaboration with Ministry of Health, World
Health Organization, Ministry of Labor and International Labor
Organization, titled “Facing the Challenge of Shortage and Migration in
Nursing and Midwifery”.
The round table objectives were:
(1) Discuss and analyze nursing shortage & labor migration issues
taking into consideration Jordan’s health system needs.
(2) Discuss national and international strategies/solutions to
overcome shortage and migration of nurses and midwives.
(3) Elaborate on partnership issues with national and international
organizations relating to shortage and migration of nursing workforce.
Accordingly, a committee for managed migration representing all
stakeholders was formed in collaboration with Ministry of Labor.
4. A Memorandum of Understanding between Jordanian Nursing Council and
the Romanian Nursing and Midwifery Order (RNMO)
A
Memorandum of Understanding was signed between, Jordanian Nursing
Council and the Romanian Nursing and Midwifery Order (RNMO), during HRH
Princess Muna Al Hussein official visit to Romania between 23-27,
September 2007, and her accompaniers; Her Excellency Senator Rowaida Al-Maaitah,
Mrs. Da'ad shokeh the Secretary General of Jordanian Nursing Council
(JNC), and Brig. General Dr. Rowaida Hijazeen the Dean of Princess Muna
College for Nursing and Allied Health Professions.
Signing this Memorandum was in a
purpose to seek future collaboration between the two countries in
nursing education, continuing education, research and exchange of
expertise and information
5. Developed the
research priorities and participation in research in Jordan, and
establishing a data base for nursing and midwifery |
