2. Award Ceremony of Excelling Nursing
Graduates of Jordan Universities & Jordanian Nursing Competency
Examination for the Year 2006-2007 :
This award ceremony was held at the
University of Jordan on 9 August 2007, within the strategy of the
Jordanian Nursing Council to improve the quality of nursing care and
awarding the excelling nurses. HRH Princess Muna Al Hussein patronized
the fifth ceremony of awarding the excelling graduates nurses and the
first three nurses in Jordanian Nursing Competency Exam for year
2006-2007.
Twenty-seven nursing graduates who
were first in their class from various universities have been awarded
within a plan to appreciate creative nurses in both private and public
Universities.
3. Launch Atlas for Nurses in
Mental Health on 11th September 2007 Under the patronage of HRH Princess
Muna Al-Hussein the President of the Jordanian Nursing Council in
collaboration with of the World Health Organization in Amman.
The launching was through a video
conference linking 6 countries across 4 regions: Amman, Jordan;
Queensland, Australia; New Delhi, India; Glasgow, United Kingdom;
Geneva, Switzerland; Manila, Philippines.
The Main purpose of launching Atlas
for Nurses in Mental Health 2007 is to link nursing and midwifery
leaders around the globe with WHO to achieve the following objectives:
(1) Provide a brief overview of the data and information on the
available human resources particularly nurses and midwives supporting
the mental health program at the national level.
(2) Engage nursing and midwifery leaders from six countries across 4
regions to share their perspectives, exchange experiences, and explore
effective ways of addressing the challenges in human resources, mental
health education, practice and research.

Enable health professional from
different parts of the world to come together virtually to explore new
technologies and innovative approached in enhancing partnerships for
strengthening nursing and midwifery contributions to the mental health
of the individuals, families and communities they serve
4. Workshops:
1)
Leadership for Change Program:
Two workshops of the Leadership for
Change Program were conducted; the second workshop conducted between
22-28 April 2007, and the third workshop conducted between 11-17
November. In addition to the Mentors workshop which conduct on 2 May
2007.
The program is being implemented by the International Council of
Nurses’ (ICN) and funded by World Health Organization/EMRO. The program
will run collaboratively by Ministry of Health and the Jordanian Nursing
Council.
The general objective of the program is to strengthen the capacity for
nursing leadership and management in Jordan in health services and the
specific objectives include, influencing policy and ;health system
improvements, develop quality, cost effective models of delivering
services, be effective contributors to the broader health care team,
contribute to ongoing leadership/management development programs for
others.
2) Evaluating the Current Nursing Curricula Workshop, 3 May 2007
The JNC organized this workshop
within its strategy to apply the scientific research and development
domains 2006-2010. The workshop conducted to assure relevance of nursing
education programs to country current and future needs.
The workshop targets deans of nursing programs from public and private
universities, and faculty members and representatives of associate
nursing programs.Each participating deans of nursing and directors of
associate degrees programs gave a presentation about the curriculum of
his/her program in terms of the strengths and weaknesses as well as the
uniqueness of the program and discussion was done concerning the
accreditation standards and comments and opinions of the participants
were discussed and recommendations were proposed.
3) Mentorship Program
The JNC ongoing activities through
conducting Mentorship Programs, so far more than (527) nurses have
already graduated from this program.
4) Workshop for Deans and Faculty Members to Curriculum Planning for
Nursing Emergency Response, October 21-22, 2007.
Deans and faculty members of the various nursing programs across Jordan
met for a two day workshop to discuss ways to better prepare
undergraduate nursing students to respond to emergency and disaster
situations. The workshop held on October 21-22, and was co-sponsored by
the Jordanian Nursing Council and the World Health Organization.
Consultants Dr. Marcel Dubouloz and Dr. Betsy Weiner were on hand to
provide facilitation of the group work.
Therefore, a strategy was set to include emergency preparedness into
nursing curriculum, and a committee was formed to process curriculum
