Nursing Policies

One of the councils primary roles is to make a changes in some nursing policies, through coordination and arrangement with related institutions.

Policies Developed in 2009  

1.     Increase the educational grants for the female students, which offered from students support funds of the ministry of higher education and scientific research for nursing in Jordanian universities. 

2.   Increase the proportion of acceptance of females in the nursing programs in the lists of exceptions (the military honor, less fortunate, etc).

3.  Abolishment of the requirement of seven years for the associated nursing and midwifery programs graduates, to increase the opportunity for more associated nurses to bridge at the Jordanian universities, as a part of solving the problem of the acute shortage of nursing staff in Jordan.    

4.   Allow the associated degree nurses, who had completed a course in midwifery that ranging between (40-65) credit hours ,and validated from AlBalqa University, which was held at the Royal Medical Services Nursing college, to bridge to bachelor degree in midwifery in the Jordanian universities, and the credit hours and training are calculated according to universities laws and regulations.

5.  Allow the bachelors degree nurses ,who had post basic program in midwifery which was held at Princess Muna College of Nursing during the period (1986-1999), to bridge to the higher diploma degree in midwifery at Mutah University  and calculating the training materials obtained according to the laws and regulations in force.

Policies Developed in 2008 

1.  The policy of minimum nurse to patient ratio in different specialties.

2.  Stop the establishment of new nursing colleges in Jordanian universities from the   beginning g of May of 2008.

3.   Increasing proportion of female student’s admission rate to nursing programs at the     Jordanian universities (public and private) to reach the ratio of 70% females to 30% males.

4.  Raising the average of acceptance in any of nursing programs to 70% Tawjihi in scientific branch.

Policies Developed in 2007 

1.  Granting temporary licensure for the graduates of Princess Muna of Collage of  Nursing and graduates of Ministry of Health College of Nursing, pending the issuance of the amendment to article (7 / c) of the Nurses Association, nurses and midwives No. (18) For the year (1972) and amended the Law No. (19) For the year (1999), which meant to except the holder of Diploma Degree in nursing who had studied not less than three years duration before 1999, and accept their registration of at the nursing and midwifery council, and give them a permanent licensure.

Policies Developed in 2005 

1.  Conduct the professional competency exam for nursing colleges graduates (public and private) in corporation with the ministry of higher education and scientific research.

2.  Open a nursing branch in Aqaba College, to assist in offering the area with qualified nursing staff.

Policies Developed in 2003

Cancel the Nursing Branch in Tawjihi (secondary class).
